Recording a Video Response for an Assignment, Quiz, or Discussion Using Kaltura Express Capture

When you are responding to a quiz question, discussion prompt, or assignment, you can record a video directly from your webcam using Kaltura Express Capture.

To record a video response, follow the steps below:

1 - Open the quiz, discussion, or assignment in Canvas

2 - On the menu bar, click the Plugin icon, select View All, then scroll to locate Embed Kaltura Media and click it (note that if you have accessed Embed Kaltura Media in the past, it may show up in the list and you won't have to View All) - If prompted, click Authorize to authorize Canvas to access Kaltura

3 - Click the Add New drop-down menu, then select Express Capture

4 - Click the red button to begin recording

5 - When finished, hit the white stop button

Important Note:  The video is then embedded in the text editor on the page. It will indicate that it is processing, but once processing is complete, the video itself will be playable. Either submit the assignment or discussion or move on to the next quiz question.
